Czechoslovakia 20 Korun 1919 VG/F Rare Alfons Mucha

Issued during the founding year of the First Czechoslovak Republic, this 20 Korun note dated April 15, 1919, is a powerful symbol of national identity and independence following the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Designed by renowned Art Nouveau artist Alfons Mucha, the note features vibrant polychrome printing in blue, red, and olive green. The front shows two women in traditional headscarves and the Bohemian coat of arms, along with the signature of finance minister Alois Rašín. The back depicts a Czechoslovak Legionnaire, sword in hand, flanked by olive branches—surrounded by texts in five languages, reflecting the republic’s diverse population.

Printed on watermarked paper by Národní Politika and Česká grafická unie, this early note is highly sought after, especially in any preserved condition.
