Slovakia 100 Korun 1993 UNC
The Slovakia 100 Korun 1993 UNC banknote pays tribute to the Gothic sculptor Majster Pavol z Levoče, one of the most important figures in Slovak medieval art. The front side features the Madonna from the Nativity altar in the Church of St. James in Levoča, his most celebrated work. The reverse depicts the historic town of Levoča, highlighting two of its main landmarks—the Church of St. James and the old town hall—along with a detailed boss from the sacristy of the former Minorite church.
This banknote is the most iconic and also the first (printed in 1993) for modern Slovakia.
Printed on paper measuring 140 × 71 mm, this note reflects Slovakia’s deep artistic and cultural heritage. In 1999, the National Bank of Slovakia issued a limited bimillennium edition of this note with a silver foil emblem and the year 2000 inscription. Only 133,000 of these commemorative pieces were produced, making them highly sought after by collectors.
